President's Message

Written by

January 14, 2012 marked our club's first Business Meeting of the New Year. And what a year this will be. 2011 saw overwhelming victories for our slate of endorsed local and County candidates. Not so this year. We are faced with a tough race at the top of the ticket. One of our own, Margo Hunt, is screening for the position of Alternate Delegate to the August National Convention in Tampa, Florida. We support Margo and wish her well. From that convention will emerge a Presidential Candidate around whom we can and should rally. Keep in mind too that our U.S. Congressman, Mike Fitzpatrick and PA State Representative, Kathy Watson both face re-election this year. I am confident that all Members, Associates and Fiends of the Club will do all that is required to ensure victory in November!

Our first Guest Speaker of the New Year was Brandon Posner, newly elected Chair of the Bucks County Teenaged Republicans. Brandon made an excellent presentation at our January meeting and I look forward to working with him and his organization in the coming months. I know their youth, energy and enthusiasm will ignite our membership through such things as Voter Registration Infinitives and help at the polls in April and November. I also see a roll for them in our community service projects such as the Highway Beautification and EMS Landscaping efforts.

I also look forward to working with our Club Chairs responsible for our annual Golf Outing, July 4th Parade Float and our ever popular Fall Fete. Jim McCarthy and Greg Hood are working on a venue for our May Outing, Jim Duffy is soliciting ideas for our float and Andy Donohue is busy at work on the Fall Show and requesting input on a theme for this year. I know last year's will be hard to top but I know Andy is up to the challenge!

The New Britain Township Republican Club is only as strong as its members and I am counting on each and everyone of you to step up again this year to insure our continuing success.

In closing, I would like to briefly describe a new club initiative currently described as a Bucks County Republican Alliance. I have formed a Task Force charged with exploring the feasibility of creating such an entity to help share our club's by-laws and other organizational aspects with like minded Republicans. This is being done in response to several recent inquiries from individuals in surrounding municipalities.  Early in the process we plan on reaching out to the County GOP, State Legislators and others to garner their insights on the formation of such a group.  Our Mission Statement is under development and those participating at the moment are fellow club members Andy Donohue, Jack Hetherington, Bill Jones and myself along with Dan Kean of Buckingham and Sean Gresh of Bedminster.  These individuals form the core of this endeavor.  Further information will be forthcoming as it becomes available.

Happy New Year to all!!!
